ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “In these first four years of government export has been and is one of the flagship flowers of executive policy.” He underlined this by the Vice-President of the Council and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, in an interview with the Sole 24 Ore, drawing a budget and outlining the next stages of the Italian strategy of internationalization.
“We have reached 650 billion that is a record and the goal is to arrive by the end of next year to 700 billion,” explained the owner of the Farnesina. “This means that export represents between 30 and 40% of Italian gross domestic product. As we are the second industrial power in Europe and have become the fourth world commercial power, we wanted to give a strategy to our exports.”.
Responding to the stages of this journey, Tajani has clarified the need to move on new markets in a complex global context: “The starting point was a ‘action plan’ that focuses on diversification. Because the war of duties has changed the cards to the table. As we continue to focus on the United States and Europe where we are growing with exports, we decided to accompany companies in other places, from Africa to Asia, to Latin America.”.
With regard to the Italian-Egypt Forum, which has seen the presence of more than one hundred Italian companies, the minister has highlighted the strong growth of commercial relations: “In the first six months of this year export to this country grew by 17%.”.
Tajani then recalled the geopolitical and economic importance of the Suez Canal: “The Suez Canal is fundamental for the Egyptian economy, but it is of extraordinary importance also for us, as 40% of the Italian maritime traffic passes through Suez and the Red Sea. They are cargos going to the Middle East or to Africa.” Precisely to protect these trade routes, the minister recalled “the synergy with other ministries. For example, with that of Defense, starting from the Aspides mission that serves to protect our exports.”.
