ROMA (ITALPRESS) – border controls with Spain remain in force. The Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi decided to extend for another 15 days the checks at the air and maritime borders, after hearing the Committee for immigration and border security, met this morning. It communicates in a note the Viminale.
On the basis of the decision “the present situation is in the Spanish exclave of Ceuta and, in particular, the continuing of the criticalities already encountered”.
The aim is to “strengthen the protection of European borders, also to guarantee national security, as well as to prevent and counter possible terrorist threats”. The measure was communicated to the European Commission and to the Interior Ministers of the other Member States of the European Union.
