ROMA (ITALPRESS) – To strengthen the dialogue between the Legal Directions of the financial institutions of development and to confront the challenges that are redefining international cooperation, in a context marked by profound economic, normative and geopolitical changes. These are the objectives of the Interact Lawyers’ Meeting, the annual appointment promoted by EDFI (European Development Finance Institutions) that Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, and its Legal Direction, host on 24 and 25 September, at its headquarters in Rome.
More than 50 legal entities representing 23 development institutions participate in the 2026 edition. Guests include the World Bank, the European Investment Bank (BEI) and the development banks of Canada and the United States, confirming the growing importance of coordination between institutions committed to sustaining sustainable and inclusive growth in partner countries.
To open the work, in the inaugural session “Development Finance in a Changing World”, the intervention of the President of CDP, Giovanni Gorno Tempini, who emphasized: “The financial institutions for development are now called to play an increasingly central role in addressing global challenges such as energy transition, infrastructure development and sustainable growth. In this context, international cooperation, the ability to attract private capital and the sharing of skills are key to expanding the impact of investments. The Interact Lawyers’ Meeting of EDFI offers an important opportunity to compare legal entities operating in different legal and regulatory contexts, helping to strengthen collaboration between the main financial institutions for development and identify solutions common to the challenges posed by geopolitical and technological evolution.”.
The introduction session was devoted to geopolitical scenarios and their economic and legal implications. In the afternoon the work will continue with a first thematic session on the role and involvement of the private sector in cooperation. On the 25th morning the second thematic session will be dedicated to artificial intelligence, opportunities and risks that this innovation also poses for legal persons engaged in international cooperation.
