ROMA (ITALPRESS) – With 97 votes in favour, the Senate Chamber approved the first-signed amendment of Marco Lisei of FdI to the electoral law that provides for, in the multi-nominal colleges, the leader blocked and the possibility to express up to three preferences. On the amendment the government had expressed favourable opinion.
“Thanks to the tenacity of Brothers of Italy, the Italian citizens will have two possibilities so far precluded: they can choose who will be the president of the Council and will be able to elect the MPs expressing preferences. It is a historical fact, because it is from the distant 1992 elections that this does not happen. In thirty-five years the left did nothing to introduce preferences, the reason is soon said: the story shows that progressive forces go to the government almost always through mere palace games, not with voters’ vote.” So in a note the Senator of Brothers of Italy Marco Lisei. “This is reality. More than mystifications. It is not by chance that the left in this Chamber and also the House has done everything to avoid the approval of preferences: it wanted the secret vote to the Chamber and it has exulted when the preferences have not passed; then here in the Senate it has contradicted, presenting a surreal sub amendment for the preferences with the only goal of bringing down the government and, consequently, to undermine the electoral law that we are willing to vote. Well, the left has failed, because the law will be approved and citizens will finally choose their representatives,” he concludes.
