ROMA (ITALPRESS) – According to the preliminary estimates of the Istat, in August the national index of consumer prices for the entire community (NIC), to the gross of the tobaccos, records a variation pairs to +0.5% on a monthly basis and to +3.3% on an annual basis (from +2.9% of the previous month).
The increase in inflation mainly reflects the performance of the prices of energy, both unregulated (from +11.4% to +16.9%) and regulated (from +14,8% to +18.8%); on the other hand, they choose the prices of recreational, cultural services and for the care of the person (from +3.0% to +2.6%) and transport services (from +1.6% to +0.9%).
In August, the “bottom inflation”, calculated net of fresh energy and food, slows down slightly (from +1.6% to +1.5%) as well as the net of only energy goods (from +1.8% to +1.7%). In the goods sector, prices show an acceleration of their growth rate (from +3.2% to +4.1%) to which the slowdown of those of the services (from +2.7% to +2.4%).
The differential between the service sector and the goods sector is widened, from -0,5 to -1,7 percentage points. The rate of tendential change in food prices, for the care of the house and the person is stable (to +1.0%), while that of the high-frequency products of purchase increases (from +3.4% to +4.3%).
The change in the general index reflects above all the increase in the prices of regulated energy (+3.2%) and non-regulated (+2.8%), transport services (+1.4%), processed food (+0.4%) and durable goods (+0.3%). The inflation acquired for 2026 is +2.9% for the general index and +1.9% for the underlying component.
According to preliminary estimates, the harmonised index of consumer prices (IPCA) recorded a change of +0.1% on a monthly basis, due to the summer balances of which the NIC does not take account, and to +3.2% on an annual basis (from +2.9% of the previous month).
