At 3.36 the first, terrible, dramatic shock of the seismic sequence that for months has upset the Italian Center, destroying entire villages and hitting a vast piece of our national territory. Today we pay tribute to the memory of the 299 earthquake victims and return to their loved ones, on this day of memory and commemoration”. So, on social media, premier Giorgia Meloni.
“In these ten years there have been so many difficulties. Too many renewals and false departures prevented the reconstruction from proceeding quickly. The government has collected this responsibility and has worked, with constancy and determination, so that a decisive step change could be made. The data show that the management has changed, both with regard to the contributions granted and already liquidated for private reconstruction, and with regard to the resumption of investments for public reconstruction, for too long remained blocked,” he adds.
“In this journey – Meloni observes – some of the most significant and identity symbols of the territory have returned to shine. Like the Basilica of San Benedetto in Norcia, almost completely destroyed by the shock of 30 October 2016. Equally incessant commitment to support economic and social recovery, essential to ensure that the villages and cities affected by the earthquake can continue to be alive and vital. Much has been done, but the same remains to be done. And that’s why we’re not gonna stop. Giving even more strength and continuity to that great teamwork that, in these years, has seen protagonists all the national and local institutional levels, together with the economic, social and productive fabric and has allowed to achieve results initially unthinkable. The goal remains common and shared: to win the challenge of the rebirth of the central Apennines”, the premier concludes.
