Urso recalled that “in the course of the next technical meetings, dedicated to the detailed analysis of the market situation, on the side of the offer, and to the comparison with the products of competition, it emerged that the cost of energy has a limited incidence and does not represent the decisive cause of the crisis. In the meeting on 21 July, the need for the company to present a new proposal, as well as certain times for the transition was reaffirmed.” The Minister then added that “the present state, no closure procedure is initiated at the establishment of Cerreto d’Esi, the plant works full-time, and the company has manifested the will to seek an alternative industrial solution. The result achieved, until this moment, was to suspend any unilateral initiative, and to start a comparison aimed at the presentation of a new proposal that will have to ensure an industrial and employment perspective that is different from that contained in the original plan”.
“We want to watch carefully on the development of the new industrial plan, we have immediately activated the tools at our disposal on the national level, the plan will have to be concrete and verifiable even more when connected with public contributions,” the minister assured. “We have placed the problem of how to achieve a European regulatory framework that can make the electrodomestic sector sustainable in the medium-long term. The crisis” of the production of household appliances “is a European crisis and the epicenter lies in Brussels. The household appliances sector is an important sector of European manufacturing, but it crosses a significant crisis we must take into account,” he concluded.
