ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “For Italy, maritime interconnection is fundamental for the manufacturing economy, energy supply and raw materials, for the export of our products worldwide. The sea is a catalyst of transversal opportunities to all the vital elements of our society: from tourism to industry, from portualità to safety, from the protection of the environment to culture, from communications to commerce and logistics”. Thus the PM Giorgia Meloni, in a message sent to the assembly of Federagenti. “The maritime dimension moves an economic, industrial and productive ecosystem, within which each component plays a fundamental role. That is why the Plan of the Sea, the strategic and programmatic instrument that this Government has wanted to equip Italy with a unitary maritime policy, does not consider you agents of the simple intermediaries but it counts you among the protagonists of the competitiveness of the national harbour system”, he adds.
“A system, the latter, that the government intends to further strengthen, also thanks to the reform of the harbour governance, a system provision that aims to overcome the fragmentation, develop a national planning, increase the attraction of our ports. And, with regard to attractiveness and competitiveness – Meloni emphasizes -, the government will continue to carry out its commitment in Europe to review the marine ETF, a mechanism that risks penalizing our ports to the advantage of those of North Africa, however without obtaining benefits in terms of reduction of polluting emissions in the Mediterranean. The sea is one of the engines of our growth, our occupation, our well-being. The blue economy is an asset that this government has placed at the centre of national policies, with structural choices and system interventions. It is a journey that, I’m sure, will see us working together once again, just as we have done so far. Because only together – public and private, institutions and productive world, economic categories and social partners – we will be able to make more and more performing and dynamic one of the most identities of our nation: the blue economy”, concludes the premier.
