CAEN (FRANCIA) (ITALPRESS) – The Secretary for Culture, Pietro Cannella, spoke this morning at the plenary session of ‘Millenium – 2027, European Year of the Normans’, in Caen, Normandy. The event hosted at Abbaye aux Dames and promoted by the President of the French Region, Hervé Morin, was an important opportunity to keep the memory alive and reaffirm the need for dialogue among peoples.
“The European Year of the Normans is an opportunity to rediscover a history that belongs to the whole of Europe and which for Italy takes on an even deeper meaning. In fact, the Norman heritage has contributed decisively to the construction of the political and cultural identity of our Mezzogiorno and, in particular, of Sicily – said the Undersecretary. That extraordinary experience showed that different cultures, languages and traditions can live and transform plurality into wealth. It is a message of great relevance, which invites us to look at culture as a tool for dialogue, cooperation and peace. The celebrations of 2027 can represent a concrete opportunity to strengthen the relations between Normandy and Italian territories, enhancing a shared historical heritage and building new collaborations capable of transforming memory into a common project aimed at the future”.
