The Community Welfare Nest Plus will take place in Rome, its first annual “Out of the box” event that will take place on 9 July 2026 at 16:30 at La Lanterna.
Institutions, industry and market sectors will be confronted by regulation, integration and financial sustainability, referring to the narrative of supplementary health – infrastructure that today counts a audience of 17 million people. Sector among the most extensive and less recounted of the country, still little known because it was born for later stratifications more than by shared design, in which good practices were often confined to the contexts that generated them.
Not an association, not an observatory, not an institution that is added from above: Welfare Nest Plus is the place where good practices speak to each other and tell who rules, represents and finances the sector.
The Community is promoted by Welfare Nest, the first Italian benefit company specialized in strategic consultancy and advisory for welfare and supplementary health, which accompanies health funds, mortgages, mortgage companies, enterprises and entities towards a conscious and sustainable development of the sector. To date, this comparison network already has 34 members among market operators, distributors, health funds, health care cases, mutual aid companies and professional studies.
The event is built around three real themes: regulation, integration and financial sustainability; in addition to the belief that from the comparison between different perspectives something could be born that alone would not be found. To outline the vision and objectives of the initiative is Damiana Mastantuono, CEO of Welfare Nest, who declares:
“The sector is not afraid of the rules: it is afraid of incremental and non-systemic measures, isolated and non-respectful of the different disciplines of the sector, and the regulatory shortcircuits resulting from it. This is the season to rethink the models together, without questioning the sources of matter, the constitutional goals and the rules of the different subjects involved. This is why “Out of the box” is born: a community of excellence that passes from the defense to the proposal and chooses to collaborate openly with the media, institutions and the market”.
The first message of the event overturns a widespread reading. The sector is not afraid to be regulated: it fears a regulation built for incremental and non-systemic measures with isolated interventions, which do not take into account the different disciplines of the sector and end up generating regulatory short circuits. The question, in other words, is not whether regular, but how and with whom. It is the difference between a lower regulation and a participatory regulation, built with those who know it from the inside. Not by chance the central comparison of the day starts from the last proposals of reform and from article 29 of the decree PNRR, on the obligations of publication of the budget.
From here the second key passage, which gives the title to the main comparison: “From defense to proposal.” One season is closed, that of the good practices guarded and of a dialogue between sector and institutions built often at a distance, and another opens, made of shared practices, rules built together, proposals that flank the reactions. The supply chains of supplementary health and those representing it in the decisive locations are openly confronted, without flag positions.
An insight into itself is dedicated to one of the phenomena that are redesigning the sector: the new geography of care. Insurance companies acquire dispensers and enter directly into the care processes; mortgages, cooperatives and associations build ecosystems based on proximity, participation and network. Business, system or response to multidimensional needs? And, above all, where the convergence between who cares and who finances the cure remains a resource, before becoming a concentration that demands tertiousness and transparency? It is the frontier where freedom of choice is played, appropriateness of care and conflicts of interest. To coordinate the comparison is Maria Rosa Alaggio, Director of Insurance Connect, third and competent voice of the sector.
The third message is a positioning. “Out of the box” is an institutional event that brings together Parliament, public agencies, social partners and industry managers, but the role of the Community is another and complementary; it is to work from below on narrative, to assist institutions and, above all, to train good practice, bringing them out of contexts that have generated them and putting them on a common factor. Welfare Nest Plus is told for what it is: a community of excellence ready to collaborate with mass media, institutions and the market, which makes available to those who regulate everything they know, openly and out of the schemes.
The event, led by two chairman Daniele Cerrato (journalist) and Maria Rosa Alaggio (journalist), will open with the intervention of Damiana Mastantuono (CEO of Welfare Nest) and will see the participation of the main actors of the system:
Istituzioni: Sen. Francesco Zaffini (Presidente della Commissione Affari Sociali e Sanità del Senato), Angelo Tanese (Direttore Generale AGENAS), Mauro Marè (Presidente Mefop), Isabella Mastrobuono (ONFSI – Anagrafe dei fondi) e Cesare Damiano (già Ministro del Lavoro, oggi Presidente di Lavoro&Welfare).
Industria e Rappresentanza: Confindustria, Confcommercio e Confartigianato.
Organizzazioni Sindacali: CGIL, CISL e UIL.
Mondo Assicurativo, Mutualistico e Cooperativo: UniSalute, Reale Mutua, Confcooperative, Legacoop, Studio C&A, con l’analisi dell’Osservatorio Italian Welfare.
In the evening will start the internal works of the Community Welfare Nest Plus, focused on financial management as a sustainability infrastructure. This second part of the program includes the contributions of: Sanifonds, University of Bologna and Azimut, together with the direct interventions of Community funds: EMAPI, FASDAC and FASI.
The “Out of the box” appointment is a crucial moment for the entire sector, joining in a single Table the decision-makers of the policy and the operational protagonists of the market. The works of the day, which will be held in the frame of La Lanterna in Rome, are strictly by invitation and will be formally closed with a special greeting from Prof. Riccardo Masetti dedicated to the integrated Terapie project – “The dawn after dusk” – to which will follow a networking dinner on the terrace.
For journalists, media professionals and information operators who wish to follow the panel, the press accreditation will be active directly at the entrance desk of the structure from 16:30.
