Established at the Ministry of Health the Technical Table on respiratory health

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – By decree of the Minister of Health, the Technical Table on Respiratory Health was established at the Office of Cabinet of the Ministry of Health, an organism called to support national strategies of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and taking charge of respiratory diseases. The measure arises from the increasing attention paid to chronic respiratory diseases, which represent a significant health and welfare challenge, and the need to promote increasingly effective strategies for the prevention, diagnosis and care of patients. The decree recalls in particular the role of Pneumology in the implementation of the DM 77/2022, with reference to the territorial management of chronic respiratory diseases, home care and telemedicine tools. The composition of the Table reflects a multidisciplinary and institutional approach, bringing together representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, the Italian Association of Hospitaller Pneumologists (AIPO-ITS / ETS) and the Italian Society of Pneumology (SIP/IRS), of the Consulta della Pneumologia in representative of Patients, of general medicine and of the pediatrician of free choice. Coordinated by Professor Paola Rogliani, the Table is a forum for comparison and collaboration aimed at the elaboration of proposals and addresses useful to strengthen strategies for prevention, early diagnosis and taking into account respiratory pathologies, contributing to the improvement of respiratory health in our country.

“The establishment of the Technical Table on respiratory health is a result of great value for our country. It is the recognition of the clinical, social and organizational relevance of respiratory diseases and the need to address them with an integrated national strategy – comments AIPO-ITS/ETS President Raffaele Scala – Pneumology is ready to contribute with scientific competence, clinical vision and institutional dialogue ability to build more effective, fair and sustainable paths for patients.” “This Table is born at a time when respiratory diseases pose increasingly complex challenges for the health system and require a broad comparison between different skills and sensitivity. Once installed and started the work, the challenge will be to translate scientific evidence and experience gained in clinical practice into concrete and shared proposals, capable of improving prevention, early diagnosis and taking care of patients. It is a work that will require comparison, listening and collaboration among all the components involved”, says Paola Rogliani, President of the Italian Society of Pneumology (SIP/IRS) and Coordinator of the Technical Table.

The constitution of the Technical Table is the result of a long synergistic action carried out by AIPO-ITS/ETS and SIP/IRS and by the Consulta della Pneumologia with commitment and dedication, which has seen in the elaboration of the White Book of Pneumology and in the Policy Paper RESPIRA the basic elements for institutional action.
