ROMA (ITALPRESS) – A SACE delegation led by President Guglielmo Picchi and Lorenzo Tagliaferri, SACE Representative for Morocco and West Africa based in Rabat, took part in the PAM Parliamentary Economic Forum in Marrakech, an international event promoted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) which brings together institutional representatives, governments, international organisations and economic stakeholders to discuss opportunities for cooperation, development and investment in the African and Mediterranean area. During the inaugural session, President Picchi illustrated the role of SACE as a strategic partner of the Country System in support of the internationalization of Italian companies and international economic cooperation, highlighting the importance of strengthening the dialogue between institutions, the private sector and the financial community to promote sustainable growth, investments and new opportunities for collaboration between Italy, the Mediterranean and Africa. On the edge of the Forum, the SACE delegation met Karim Zidane, Minister delegate to the Head of Government of the Kingdom of Morocco in charge of Investments, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies. The prospects for economic collaboration between Italy and Morocco and investment opportunities in the areas of common interest were deepened. The mission also allowed the Honourable Giulio Centemero, President of the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly (PAM), with whom the themes of regional economic cooperation, investment support and strengthening relations between Europe, the Mediterranean and Africa were deepened.
During the visit there was also a meeting with H.E. Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, along with institutional representatives from the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Iraq, Yemen, Libya and Oman. The comparison focused on the prospects for economic development, the strengthening of regional cooperation and the role of the private sector as a driving force for growth and stability in the Mediterranean and Middle East. The SACE delegation also had the opportunity to confront representatives of the Italian Banking Association (ABI), Intesa Sanpaolo and Italian companies active in Morocco, deepening the prospects for growth of the Moroccan market, the needs of the companies present on the territory and the opportunities for collaboration in the main strategic sectors. The meetings were an important opportunity to consolidate dialogue with institutional and economic partners in the region and confirm SACE’s commitment to investment, support the growth of Italian companies and strengthen the economic connections between Italy and the high potential markets of the Mediterranean and Africa. The mission confirms the role of SACE as an enabler of the international growth of Italian companies and reference partners for the realization of projects and investments in the strategic markets of the enlarged Mediterranean and the African continent, contributing to transform the institutional dialogue and economic relations into concrete opportunities for the Italian productive system.
