ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Talking about the future, after a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer, is an increasingly concrete prospect for patients, thanks to innovative therapies that allow to live with cancer longer and maintain a good quality of life. This is the goal of “In Seno al Futuro”, the campaign of Daiichi Sankyo and AstraZeneca reached the second edition.
The campaign is articulated through a video story built around 4 keywords – Research, Trust, Path, Report – that outline the path of patient care after a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer and accompany them to discover their future.
The ambassador of the project is Diego Passoni, speaker and radio host of Radio Deejay, the narrating voice and facilitator who accompanies reflection on the deepest meaning of each word, to deepen the different aspects of the disease and care.
Each video focuses on one of these 4 words and develops through an exciting and profound dialogue between Diego and the representatives of Patient Associations and Experts who contributed to the campaign.
In particular, Diego meets Flori Degrassi President of ANDOS National ETS, Rosanna D’Antona, President of Europa Donna Italia, Antonella Campana, President of Fondazione IncontraDonna e Chiara Milanesi, Head of the Forlì section of Health Women ODV and the experts Grazia Arpino, Associate Professor of Medical Oncology and head of the section of breast cancer at the University Federico II of Naples
The result is an exchange of opinions, an open and sincere comparison that offers an ever different perspective on what it means to live with the disease and imagine a future with a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer, through words.
“I am very happy to be part of “In Seno al Futuro”, a project that wants to tell the new possibilities that research and innovation offer patients with metastatic breast cancer who can now imagine, along with caregiver, friends and family, a future with long perspectives.
Research, Trust, Relationship and Route are the 4 words symbol of the campaign, which allowed us to tell, in a strong and authentic way, this prospective journey. I thank, in particular, the Patient Associations and the Clinical Associations I met and who told me together about the new path of patients. With an immense value contribution, they helped me and will help those who will follow the campaign to understand the true meaning of this path,” explained Diego Passoni.
Only in Italy, there are 55.000 women who live with a metastatic mammary carcinoma. In 2024, the new diagnosis of breast cancer was about 54,000, of which 6-7% were already in the fourth stage. It is about metastasis when cancer cells spread from the breast to other parts of the body. This can also happen many years after surgery and post-operative therapies, despite the primary tumor has been completely removed.
“In Seno al Futuro is a campaign that helps overcome stigma, silence and disinformation that still accompanies an oncological diagnosis. We talk about the future because today, thanks to scientific research and innovation, advanced and customized therapies are available to give new perspectives to patients. Italy has a central role in this path: our country is recognized among European and world leaders in oncological research for scientific quality, clinical skills and ability to enroll in clinical studies” concludes Alessandra Dorigo, Head of Oncology AstraZeneca. “To make progress as these serve collaboration, shared vision and ability to combine complementary excellence, to give concrete answers to patients. The alliance with Daiichi Sankyo stems from this principle: two companies that bring together scientific skills, research and resources to accelerate innovation for the benefit of patients.”
