“Quo Vadis: Urbs 2026”, in Rome the summit on the future of cities

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – How to make cities more governmental, sustainable and attractive? This is the question at the centre of Quo Vadis: Urbs 2026 – The cities of the future”, the two days of debates and meetings organized by Feuromed – the Altravoce, in collaboration with the European Parliament and the patronage of the Order of Engineers of Rome, which will be held on 17 and 18 June in Rome, at the European Parliament Hall in Piazza Venezia.

The event stands as a real hub of dialogue between politics, technology, market and civil society, offering a platform of comparison on urban policies between the local, national level. The program of the event will be marked by an important institutional participation, with interviews conducted by the Director of L’Altravoce, Alessandro Barbano, who will focus on the reforms and strategies of the Executive for urban centers. During the first day, Wednesday 17 June, they will take part: Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, Minister for Institutional Reforms, who will open up government work by framing the challenges of urban governance within the autonomous system. Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister of Environment and Energy Security, whose intervention will focus on crucial debates on smart mobility and urban sustainability. Paolo Zangrillo, Minister for Public Administration, who will close the work of Wednesday by intervening on the efficiency of the administrative machine for the cities of the future.

In the morning of Thursday, June 18, the work will resume with the participation of Eugenia Maria Roccella, Minister for the Family, the birth and the equal opportunities, which will address the connections between demographics, welfare and new needs of citizens, opening a day that will also treat urban health and aging.

In addition to the representatives of the Government, “Quo Vadis: Urbs 2026” will see alternating on stage the leading players in the administration of the territory. The Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri, the Mayor of Naples and President of ANCI Gaetano Manfredi, will be discussing the nodes related to urban management, as well as a large representation of first citizens and former local administrators such as Sara Funaro (Florence), Roberto Lagalla (Palermo), Enrico Trantino (Catania) and europarlamentari Dario Nardella, Giorgio Gori and Matteo Ricci.

Articulated in eight thematic panels, the event will deepen the great contemporary challenges: from energy transition, to infrastructure and digital networks, passing through urbanism, social cohesion and the attractiveness of centres for the “creative class”.
To enrich the debate, figures of the academic, cultural and economic world: from the judge emeritus Sabino Cassese to the economist Carlo Cottarelli, to the architect Stefano Boeri, to the President of CENSIS Giuseppe De Rita and to many former ministers (Boschi, Delrio, Lanzillotta, Bonetti, Giovannini) called to bring their institutional experience.
The event is realized in partnership with the European institutions and will see the presence of the Director of the European Parliament Office in Italy, Carlo Corazza, and the intervention of the Vice-President of the European Parliament, Pina Picierno.
