BERLIN (GERMANY) (ITALPRESS) – The German government rejected the offer of UniCredit S.p.A. of exchange of shares of Commerzbank AG. “Accepting the offer was not already an option from the financial point of view, as it did not provide an adequate award compared to the current price of the shares of Commerzbank”, we read in a note diffused by the Federal Finance Agency.
In addition, the Interministerial Governing Committee of the Financial Markets Stabilisation Fund “supports Commerzbank AG’s independence strategy” and “resping the aggressive approach of UniCredit S.p.A.”, reads again. “Commerzbank AG plays an important role in financing the German economy and the German medium-sized business sector, the so-called Mittelstand. As an important employer, the bank is also key to the Frankfurt financial centre. Both aspects must continue to be guaranteed in the future,” the note concludes.
