Thus the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a message sent to the President of the National Association Bersaglieri, General of Corps, Giuseppenicola Tota.
“From the historical deeds of the Risorgimento to today’s operating theatres – says the Head of State –, the targets confirm a high professionalism, offering in international missions and in support of national security a valuable contribution that confirms them the key element of the military instrument. In the year of the fiftieth anniversary of the earthquake in Friuli, I renew the applause for the meritorious work of the Sodalitius in recognising generations and in safeguarding a precious heritage of values, in the grateful memory of the generous self-denial and humanity with which the targeters distinguished themselves in giving relief to the affected populations. In addressing a moving thought to the falls of Speciality, whose sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Homeland remains a fundamental ethical reference for those who today proudly wear the crimson flames, rendo deferente tribute to the Labaro of the Association that unites them and sums up. To all participants comes the most fervent wish for the success of the event, in the awareness that the affection of the national community will continue to accompany the passage of the fanfare and the commitment of every target,” concludes Mattarella.
