ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The Parliament has committed the government to activate, in the competent European offices, all appropriate initiatives to exploit the flexibility of the European economic governance framework, in order to provide effective and timely responses within the framework of the overall financial perspective outlined by the 2025 programmatic public finance document. The quantum of the gradual increase in defence spending will however be evaluated, the measure indicated by last Dfp, that is 0.5% in the reference time horizon of the programming document of October”. This was said by the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, responding to the question time at the Chamber. “In any case, by setting up a close dialogue with the European Commission so that the possibility of making use of greater budgetary flexibility to ensure all those measures to protect families of enterprises with respect to the consequences of expensive energy, only to the outcome of negotiations and on the basis of the decision of Europe, it may be assessed whether to activate the national safeguard clause to increase functional expenses to address the exceptional nature of the context including those for defence,” he added.
