ROMA (ITALPRESS) – According to the preliminary estimates, in April 2026 the national index of consumer prices for the entire community (NIC), to the gross of the tobaccos, recorded a change of +1.2% on a monthly basis and +2.8% on an annual basis (from +1.7% of the previous month). Istat detects it. The dynamics of inflation mainly reflects the net rise in prices of non-regulated energy (from -2.0% to +9.9%), of those regulated (from -1.6% to +5.7%) and acceleration of the prices of unworked food (from +4.7% to +6.0%); in slowdown are the prices of recreational, cultural and care services (from +3.0% to +2.6%) and services. In April the “bottom inflation”, net of fresh energy and food, shows a slowdown (from +1.9% to +1.6%), as well as the net of only energy goods (from +2.1% to +2.0%).
Prices of goods record a marked acceleration on an annual basis (from +0.8% to +3.2%), while those of services slow (from +2.8% to +2.4%). As a result, the differential between the service sector and that of goods becomes negative, leading to -0.8 percentage points (from +2.0 p.p. of the previous month). The rate of tendential variation of the prices of the food goods, for the care of the house and the person rises to +2.5% (from +2.2%), as well as those of the products with high frequency of purchase (from +3.1% to +4.3%). The change in the general index mainly affected the increase in the prices of non-regulated energy (+5.7%), unworked food (+2.1%), transport services (+1.6%), recreational, cultural and personal care services (+1.4%). The inflation rate acquired in April is +2.4%. According to the preliminary estimates, the harmonised index of consumer prices (IPCA) recorded a change of +1.7% on a monthly basis, due to the end of the seasonal balances of which the NIC does not take account, and to +2.9% on an annual basis (from +1.6% of the previous month).
