2 June, a “open” square to tell the 80 years of the Republic

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – A “open” square to tell the 80 years of the Republic. A great story of the long journey that has made the country in the wake of democracy with historical films, art, music, sports, stories; a feast open to all that will air on June 2 on Rai1 and in about 100 squares of Italy ideally united to the Piazza del Quirinale. It is “I Volti della Repubblica”, the main event of the celebrations of the 80th year from the birth of the Republic following the referendum of 46′, idea born from a phrase that President Sergio Mattarella repeated in one of his speeches at the end of the year. To present the events promoted by Quirinale Giovanni Grasso, adviser for the Press and Communication of the President of the Republic; Giampaolo Rossi, managing director Rai; Salvo Nastasi, President Siae, and Veronica Nicotra, Secretary General Anci.

“Monday, June 1, the Quirinale Gardens will be open to the weak bands, there will be a series of associations of disabled people who will have this day of celebration from 9:30 to 13:30 with musical contributions and a meeting with President Mattarella. At 15:30 in Piazza del Quirinale there will be the change of the solemn guard, at 18 the traditional classical music concert in the Pauline Chapel reserved for ambassadors and high offices and for this year there will be no famous reception in the Gardens”, explains Grasso. “On June 2 there will be the homage of President Mattarella with the high offices of the State at the Altar of the Homeland at 9:15, then the traditional military magazine at the Imperial Forums. At 18:50 on Rai1 there will be the broadcast ‘Let’s talk to the President’ where a dozen young people have made an interview intermealed by historical breaks. At 21:15, always live on Rai1, the great event ‘I Volti della Repubblica’, a phrase that President Mattarella pronounced in one of his late-year speeches; it is a show in the square with singers, musicians, artists, sportsmen. A possible evening thanks to the indispensable contribution of Siae and the collaboration with Anci who wrote a letter of invitation to the mayors to organize in their own squares a screen to allow an aggregation of people who ideally connect to the square of the Quirinale. With about 2700 spectators among 200 mature students, associations, volunteers, sports, civil protection, world of culture, military – continues Grasso – it will be a great story with a very important cast that goes from the National Symphony Orchestra of Conservators to Roberto Bolle, singers like Annalisa, Luca Barbarossa, Gianni Morandi and Giuliano Sangiorgi; among actors Paola Cortellesi, Carlo Verdone, Cesare Bocci and Luca Zingaretti.

Giampaolo Rossi, Ad Rai, points out that this “opportunity is extraordinary to confirm the role of public service and witness to the history of the nation. In 80 years the Rai accompanied Italy by telling it in all its forms, he told the Italian Republic while he was born. We draw an extraordinary palimpsest that is multiplatform – says Rossi -, we will activate the direct institutional, concerts, documentaries, the direct for the Magazine to the Imperial Forums, there will be ample space dedicated to historical memory and to the constitutional value through the Teche Rai. Tuesday, June 2 in the first evening will be a great institutional celebration live with the world of culture, sport and institutions. For the Rai the Republic is a promise to become and not a real monument”, he concludes.

Salvo Nastasi, President Siae, recalls that “all artists and authors have worked for free, made available to the Quirinale their work”. “We have joined with enthusiasm because the Italian authors and publishers are part of the history of the Republic; when the Republic was born the Siae existed already for sixty-five years, he accompanied these eighty years through innovations, technology, novelties from the authorial point of view and therefore it seemed right to be alongside the Quirinale and the Rai. Moreover, we are partners of the Rai and we make many projects together from the authorial point of view,” he concludes. Veronica Nicotra, secretary general Anci, talks about “a community mobilization with about 100 municipalities who joined” on the evening of June 2 and will install in their squares “of maxi-screens so that citizens can attend this show; the mayors are also organizing their initiatives to entice citizens with concerts and movies”.
