ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Promote prevention, develop greater scientific awareness and offer young patients tools to become protagonists of their health path. These are the objectives of “Youth for Health”, the new project of the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS, realized with the non-conditional support of Fondazione Pfizer. The initiative stems from the belief that health is not only built through care, but also through knowledge, participation and education.
The project aims to promote a new culture of prevention through educational activities, laboratories, meetings with specialists and accessible scientific communication paths.
In the course of twelve months will be organized public meetings “Science and Health for All”, experiential workshops, training activities dedicated to young people and paths for the creation of “Ambasciatori della Salute”: boys who, thanks to the experience gained together with the professionals of the Gemini, will become promoters of the culture of prevention among their peers.
The project will also involve young doctors, researchers and specialists, promoting direct dialogue and helping to make scientific knowledge increasingly understandable, shared and participated. “Modern medicine cannot be limited to diagnosis and therapy. We must accompany the children in understanding their health condition, helping them develop awareness, autonomy.
Educating for prevention means investing in the future of our boys and making them active protagonists of their path of care. “Youth for Health” is an innovative model that integrates clinical skills, scientific education and participation, contributing to a real focus on the person,” says Eugenio Mercuri, Director of the Department of Health of Women and Child, Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS.
The project is part of the broader commitment of the University Polyclinic Foundation A. Gemelli IRCCS in the promotion of health and prevention, enhancing a multidisciplinary approach that integrates medical, psychological, communicative and pedagogical skills. The aim is to contribute to the formation of a new generation of more aware citizens, capable of orienting themselves among scientific information and adopting health-friendly behaviors.
