MILAN (ITALPRESS) – The Order TSRM and PSTRP of Milan, Como, Lecco, Lodi, Monza Brianza and Sondrio intervenes on the statements released today, Friday, July 24th, by the Councillor for local and mountain bodies, Massimo Sertori, and by the General Manager at the Welfare of Regione Lombardia, Mario Melazzini. In the VIII Commission of the Regional Council, the representatives of the policy and of the regional welfare have announced, within September, a plan of incentives destined to 7,000 health workers of the border areas with the Swiss territory, for a total of approximately 45 million euros. Comment the President of the Order, Diego Catania: “I welcome the measure, which aims to bring about the depopulation of border areas, marked by the migration of health professionals in search of more favourable working conditions. It is a fundamental measure to retain and stabilize in our qualified personal territory, thus avoiding a real ‘desertification of human resources. I hope that this measure interests all health professionals, such as thousands of members of our Order operating in the provinces of Como and Sondrio”. The maneuver predicted by the Lombardy Region finds its foundation in Law no. 213/2023 (Leg of Budget 2024), which provides for the possibility to recognize an economic increase up to 20% of the salary to the health personnel in service in the companies located in the border areas. Compared to the explicit mention of doctors and nurses by the Councillor, Catania states: “I remember that the excellence of our Regional Health Service is based on the plurality of professional profiles that make up it, which put their specialist skills available to the complex needs of citizens. Therefore, the proposed measure, in order to be truly effective and sustainable in the long term, must affect the totality of professionals who contribute to the health system. Otherwise, the risk is that the hemorrhage of resources, buffered on the one hand, continues on the other, leaving the border structures equally sluggish and weakened. A plan of economic incentives that favours some figures at the expense of others, in addition to being ineffective, would risk undermining the cohesion and synergy of staff, with important relapses on service to citizenship. I trust, however, that regional leadership, as demonstrated many times in recent years, demonstrates far-sightedness and ability to recognize and value all components of the health system.” (ITALPRESS)
