CIVITAVECCHIA (ROMA) (ITALPRESS) – The Ports of Rome and Lazio positively close the first semester of 2026, confirming the strategic role of the harbour network of the Authority of Harbour System of the Tyrrhenian Sea North Center in the traffics of the Mediterranean.
The statistics for the first half of 2026 show an increase of the total traffic of the goods, that reaches 6,410,894 tons, with an increment of 5.7% regarding the same period of 2025 (+345,020 tons). The ship’s deposits are also growing, from 1.324 to 1.455 (+9.9%), confirming the dynamism of the entire Lazio port system. Particularly positive the result of the liquid bulk, that is attested to 2700.640 tons, in increase of 16.9% regarding the first semester of last year, drawn mainly from the refined products, that represent the predominant quota of the section. It also follows the favourable moment of passenger traffic.
In the port of Civitavecchia, the only port of call of the network affected by the marine connections of line, the passengers reach quota 510.504, with an increase of 4.4% regarding the first six months of 2025. Excellent results also for the crocieristico section, that in the network of the Ports of Rome and Lazio registers 1,555,494 crocieristi, in increase of 9% regarding the same period last year (+128,381 passengers).
Of these, over 791 thousand are cruisers boarded and landed, with an increase of 15.6%, to confirmation of the consolidation of the role of Civitavecchia among the first crocieristici hubs world. Original news In increase also the container traffic, that reaches 60.502 TEU (+6.9%), and that of the automezzi, that it is attested to 437.310 unit, with an increment of 14.3% regarding the first semester 2025. Particularly significant is the performance of polystyrene cars, which recorded an increase of 49.1%, reaching a share of 157.878 enlivened units.
In detail, the port of Civitavecchia records a total freight traffic of 3,927,737 tons, in increase of 1.5% regarding the first semester of 2025. Very positive the trend of the liquid bulk, that increase of 25% attesting itself to 676.375 tons, while the “various months in hills” reach 2.904.785 tons (+1.1%). The port of Gaeta closes the semester with 935.202 tons of goods enlivened, in increase of 13% regarding the first semester of 2025.
They grow both the liquid bulk (+19.1%) and the solid bulk (+8.6%), while the deposits reach quota 131 (+12%). Also worth mentioning is the growth of the crocieristico traffic, which passes from 901 to 2.339 passengers (+159,6%), thanks above all to the crocieristi in transit. In the port of Fiumicino, finally, the total traffic reaches 1,547.955 tons, with an increase of 13.1% regarding the first six months of 2025.
The traffic consists mainly of refined products intended for the supply of Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport and also records the handling of liquefied gases, absent during the same period of the previous year. “The results of the first semester 2026 attest the solidity and strategic importance of the network of the Ports of Rome and Lazio in the Mediterranean sea panorama,” states the President of the Authority of Harbour System, Raffaele Latrofa.
