TAORMINA (MESSINA) (ITALPRESS) – From 12 to 15 October Taormina hosts the Study Days of the Group of the European People’s Party to the European Parliament: four days of discussion that will bring together more than 140 MEPs, the leadership of the EPP from President Manfred Weber, the President of the European Commission Ursula Forza von der Leyen and several European Commissioners, the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola.
The initiative was born from the proposal of the Deputy Head of Forza Italia to the European Parliament, Marco Falcone, supported by the blue group in Brussels and Strasbourg led by Fulvio Martusciello, and will bring in Sicily the comparison on the main political and government challenges of the second half of the European legislature 2024-2029. Gil Study Days will be held at UNA Hotels Capotaormina.

WEBER “IMPEGNATI A SOSTEGNO DELL’UCRAINA”
“The EPP has committed itself and will continue to strongly engage in support of Ukraine. This remains a fundamental point of our political action and we dialogue and collaborate with all the political forces that work in this same perspective.” This was highlighted by the President of the European People’s Party and the EPP Group in the European Parliament, Manfred Weber. Weber confirmed the position of the PPE “in defense” of Ukraine, thus escaping any doubts about any change of direction in the light of the recent statements of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, according to which “for Ukraine it is time to have a new president”. The president of the EPP reiterated the “convinced support” and “determined” of the group to the Ukrainian people in the ongoing conflict following the Russian invasion.
FALCONE “UE DEVE ESSERE PROTAGONISTA IN SCENARIO GEO-ECONOMICO GLOBALE”
“We are living in Taormina one of the most extraordinary moments of Sicily in recent times. The presence of President Metsola, President Von der Leyen, and President Weber, but also Senator Stefania Craxi, are all elements that make us hopefully and tell us that Europe is not so far from our territories and Sicily.” Marco Falcone, MEP of Forza Italia in Taormina for the Study Days of the Group of the European People’s Party in the European Parliament, said this.
In Sicily, the leadership of European people is confronted by the challenges of the second half of the European legislature 2024-2029, with the aim of drawing a real “Roadmap of Taormina”. “We want to lay the foundations – says Falcone – for a concrete and programmatic platform with a view to a phase in which the EPP can play a leading game to make Europe feel not only an economic power but also make it a protagonist in the international geo-economic scenario.” “We are convinced that this appointment in Taormina can be an important step in this direction and the EPP will do its part to find the necessary solutions on strategic priorities for Europe and our country.”.
LA VIA “GARANTIRE SOSTEGNO AL COMPARTO AGRICOLO”
“The meeting of 140 MEPs in Taormina arrives at an important moment. It is a phase that can decide the future of the agricultural and productive chain. A few days ago we witnessed the Irish Presidency’s proposal on the multiannual financial framework which certainly does not go in the direction we hope to ensure adequate resources for agriculture and above all for the Mediterranean. The road map of Taormina pio now represents a strategic step”. Giovanni La Via, former MEP and former regional council member, has declared this in Taormina at the Study Days of the Group of the European People’s Party in the European Parliament. “In Taormina – explains La Via – we will talk to the European Commissioner for Agriculture and we will discuss with the EPP for the second half of the legislature and to reaffirm the need for a certain framework and a maintenance of agricultural policy on sustainability levels for the protagonists of the supply chain.” “The pillars are two – La Via concludes – income aid and agricultural and rural development and above all an adequate support that can guarantee a generational replacement but also the competitiveness of the companies in the South in the face of a changing climate.”.
