Pope Leo XIV “Forgiving is indispensable, without it one cannot live in peace”

VATICAN CITY (ITALPRESS) – “Only free forgiveness and light, even where the material and moral poverty of man, for a moment, has made the horizon gloom and uncertain the path”. This calls for reconciliation as the only way for peace launched by Pope Leo to the Angelus. The Pontiff dedicated his speech entirely to the Gospel of forgiveness and the need to break the chain of hatred that fuels conflicts, divisions and wars. “Forgiving is indispensable. If it fails you can not live in peace”, he emphasized.

Then, he recalled September 11: “The memory of the tragic event of 25 years ago prompts us to renew our commitment to peace. First of all with prayer, which we entrust to the intercession of the Virgin Mary”. “Two days ago – he explained – was the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11 in the United States of America. I renew my prayers for those who have lost their lives and for those who still carry the wounds of that tragic day. At a time when conflicts and violence affect so many of our brothers and sisters, I invite everyone to pray for the Lord to give peace to the world.”.
