ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Emma Bonino’s ardent room was opened in the Sala della Protomoteca del Campidoglio, last Friday at the age of 78. Numerous institutional and political presences to pay tribute to the historic radical exponent. Among the first to arrive the mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri, the secretary of +Europa Riccardo Magi, Matteo Hallissey and the family of Bonino.
Emma Bonino, a historic member of the Radical Party, Italian and European parliamentary and several times a member of the Government, has been one of the leading figures of Italian politics and the battles for civil rights and individual freedoms for decades. He also served as Foreign Minister in the Letta Government. The flag of the European Union was placed on the feretro, a particularly significant symbol for one of the main figures of Italian Europeanism. The choice is also part of compliance with the provisions of the State Ceremony, which reserve the use of the national flag to cover the feretro to specific categories provided by the legislation. The burning room will remain open to the public today, until 7 pm and tomorrow, from 10 am to 7 pm, to allow citizens, political representatives and representatives of the institutions to make the last greeting to Bonino. The state funeral in secular form, with official commemoration, will be held on Tuesday, September 15 at 12.30, always in the Sala della Protomoteca del Campidoglio.
