MILAN (ITALPRESS) – A balloon in CityLife, free cardiometabolic screening and an open race to all to promote movement, prevention and awareness. On the occasion of the 22nd Congress of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), from 28 September to 2 October Milan will host a program of initiatives dedicated to the population, with the aim of bringing health issues beyond congress spaces and directly involve citizens, families and sports enthusiasts.
The initiatives are part of the project “Lasting health starts now”, with which Novo supports the scientific presence of the congress a path of awareness addressed to the community, transforming some places symbol of the city into meeting spaces, participation and promotion of health.
To characterize the presence of Novo will be a balloon placed in front of the MiCo, seat of the European Congress, designed to make live a unique experience and give at the same time visibility to the themes of health and awareness. It will be possible to climb the balloon from Monday 28 September to 13.00, until 12 october, going to the gazebo located in front of the MiCo.
The balloon is a symbolic and visible way to bring a message of awareness and daily care to the city: an invitation for people to look up, reflect on the importance of choosing healthier habits and discovering tools and useful information to live “a lighter life”, also by consulting the information website on overweight and obesity (www.novoio.com).
The invitation to participate continues Thursday 1st October at 7.00, starting from Piazza Burri, for the 21st edition of the 5K@EASD. For the first time the initiative invites the whole population to participate: 5 kilometres race with professional peacers; 2.5 kilometres guided walk for everyone.
The race, sponsored among others also by the Municipality of Milan, will be present also Team Novo Nordisk, the first team in the world of professional cycling composed entirely of athletes with diabetes type 1. Through its sports experience, the team is committed to inspiring, informing and encouraging people with diabetes to pursue their goals, promoting active life and increased awareness of the disease.
To participate in the initiative it is necessary to register, specifying participation in the race in presence and not virtual. To register: 2026 5K@EASD Challenge Online Registration. Prevention will also be at the heart of free cardiometabolic screening available for everyone at the Food Hall of the CityLife Shopping District from 28 September to 2 October. In about 8 minutes it will be possible to carry out a control of some indicators associated with well-being and cardiometabolic health, including blood pressure, state of form and cell aging, to gain a greater awareness of your health. A simple gesture to approach the issues of prevention and health. The controls will be carried out using an innovative and fully automated method. The initiative is a simple and accessible opportunity to approach the culture of prevention and receive a concrete stimulus to take care of itself. To participate, you can book screening directly at the area dedicated to the Food Hall.
With these initiatives, Novo renews its commitment as a health partner in Italy, supporting research and innovation in local activities that make prevention closer to people. “Lasting health starts now” expresses this commitment: building a lasting health over time through today’s actions. The presence in Milan on the occasion of EASD thus becomes an opportunity to relate scientific confrontation with the daily life of the community, through accessible experiences and moments of participation.
