Meloni responds to Conte “Truth on Covid is not a political process, but a duty to the nation”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “Giuseppe Conte argues that the Covid Commission would be an orchestrated “execution platoon” against him. Only that, unlike him, I do not care to throw mud on anyone, nor to transform a tragedy that has marked millions of Italians in a land of personal confrontation. This, if anything, was too often the method of the 5 Star Movement: to replace the search for truth with suspicion and insinuation.
It strikes that, in order to support this argument, we even get to delegittimare the work of the Commission and of those journalists who, in these years, have tried to reconstruct facts, decisions and responsibilities, liquidating them as part of an alleged design against him”. In a Facebook post, the President of the Council, Giorgia Meloni, writes it, responding to the leader of the M5s, Giuseppe Conte, after hearing in commission Covid. “What should be of interest to all, and that is especially to Italians, is a much simpler thing – he continues – to know all the truth about what happened during the pandemic, to make full light on the decisions taken, the management of emergency, the use of the huge public resources used and to ascertain any responsibility, wherever they are. It is not a process to one person, anything else. And frankly, I do not understand why former Premier Giuseppe Conte did not join the choir of those who asked answers to the many questions left unresponsible and instead chose to stand on the defensive or, as in his last statements, to “push it in politics”. It is not a process towards a person, but a duty to a nation that paid a very high price. The truth about pandemic is not a political attack. It is a right of Italians,” he concludes.
