ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “While we approach the 70th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome, we are called to reflect on the Europe we want and must build. It is evident that it is not enough to be a large commercial or regulatory platform. They serve strategic autonomy, industrial capacity, technological sovereignty, financial power. And Europe must be ready to use the geopolitical and geoeconomic strength it has. We want a Europe that concentrates its energies on the major strategic issues where it is vital to join forces, but that it leaves the national States the competence on the areas where they can achieve better results alone.” So the premier Giorgia Meloni, in a video message sent on the occasion of the “Future Investment Initiative Priority Summit Europe 2026” that takes place in Rome. “In doing so, a priority must be to strengthen synergies with our partners. Starting with the cooperation between Europe and the Gulf, which has a huge unexpressed potential and which can be decisive to unite the West and the East, Africa and Asia,” he adds.
“Italy intends to play a leading role in this process, as a gateway to Europe and natural energy, logistics and commercial hub in the Mediterranean. Working together, Europe and the Gulf will be able to offer the world a replicable and scalable model of strategic cooperation, capable of transforming energy, commerce, infrastructure, interconnections into stability factors and not vulnerabilities. All this is consistent with what the Future Investment Initiative represents: a global agenda where ideas, capitals, technology and concrete projects merge to build the future. My hope is that Rome can become the European fixed stage of this work: the place where to measure facts, calibrate progress, trace new priorities. To determine, together, our destiny,” concludes Meloni.
