ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Following the episode of undue subtraction of medicines, in particular 80 phials of fentanyl, suitable to package up to about 20,000 doses destined for illicit consumption, occurred in the pharmacy of the Israeli hospital of Rome, from Palazzo Chigi filters “strong alarm” for the “irresponsible” behaviour of those who are called to ensure the safety of such substances. In the first afternoon of today the undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council, Alfredo Mantovano, presided over an urgent meeting at Palazzo Chigi, attended, among others, the Head of Cabinet of the Ministry of Health, the Director of the Central Directorate for Anti-drug Services, the Director General of the Health Directorate of the Lazio Region and the executives of the Department for Policies against the Dependencies of the Presidency of the Council.

During the meeting, the need to ensure compliance with the procedures envisaged for the management of high-risk medicinal products was reiterated in order to protect public health and prevent repeating similar episodes. In the meantime, the NAS Carabinieri has been activated for case inspections, while the Ministry of Health has placed an inspection to verify any liability and ensure compliance with current protocols. In the coming days will be called back to Palazzo Chigi the monitoring table on the implementation of the Anti-fentanyl Plan, with the aim of applying the necessary cautele and controls from all interested parties.
