Mattarella receives a LILT delegation

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, received at the Palazzo del Quirinale a delegation of the Italian League for the Fight against Tumori (LILT), led by the national president, Professor Francesco Schittulli. In the course of the interview, Schittulli reconfirmed to President Mattarella “the commitment of LILT to overcoming the hospital health model, underlining how investing in prevention is the most effective way to reduce the incidence and mortality of tumors, containing the same waiting lists.” Ample space has been dedicated to the new education, training and health update projects promoted by LILT, such as the “One Health to Longevity” project aimed at health professionals in an integrated approach to the protection of the person, the animal and the environment, and the national program “Guadagnare Salute con la LILT”, which spreads education to oncological prevention in schools of every order and degree. Always with a look at future generations, Schittulli stressed the importance of bringing education to affection among the school benches, and to a conscious use of social media. “To be received for the third time by President Mattarella is for LILT a great honor that we renew with extreme gratitude and that confirms the sensitive attention of the highest institutions for our daily commitment to the side of cancer patients and their families – said Francesco Schittulli -. The closeness of the Head of State to our mission – he added – is a further incentive for us to continue in the diffusion of the culture of prevention as a method of life. Something in which we believe with authentic cultural revolution, at the service of the health of our country.” During the meeting, Francesco Schittulli also informed the Head of the State of Research Projects at the screening of the National Scientific Committee on the use of artificial intelligence in the diagnostic and therapeutic field, aimed at identifying tumors in an increasingly early stage and personalising treatment paths. Finally, the national president of the LILT informed the President Mattarella of the two Roman events that will see the LILT protagonist: the General States of the Volunteer, scheduled on 29 and 30 September, and the General States for the Humanization of the Cure, on 10 December. At the end of the hearing, Schittulli handed over to the President of the Republic the Charter for Humanization of the Rights of the Oncological Malate, the document with which the Italian League for Fight against Tumors asks to give voice and protection to the dignity of people affected by oncological pathologies and their family members, and made a gift from “The Tree of Prevention”, a work in unique circulation by Maestro Gerardo Sacco.
