ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Mario Orfeo has resigned as director of Republic. From next 9 September will be the editorial director of QN Media (formerly National Editorial), the group that holds the newspapers the Rest of Carlino, La Nazione, Il Giornat e QN. In the new role, Mario Orfeo will join the editor, Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, and the managing director, Gabriele Benedetto, “in the path of growth of the group, with a function of address and coordination of editorial strategy and new development projects”, reads in a note, which continues: “Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio’s project aims to redesign the positioning of the entire editorial group starting from the new QN, coming next fall, which will evolve into a head of high-end, authoritative opinion, able to also speak to a young audience, with a contemporary language.”.
Agnese Pini is confirmed as the head of the group’s publications and “will contribute to the ambitious relaunch project of the new QN: a completely renewed headboard, with a graphic design inspired by the main European newspapers, a readability and enhancement of content, and a digital platform redesigned from scratch along with the paper product”.
At the same time, the editor’s vision translates into a “new architecture of the group that aims to make each local testata more identity and recognizable: The Rest of Carlino, La Nazione e Il giorno will each maintain their central role in regional information, strengthening the rooting in their respective territories”.
Mario Orfeo, 60 years old, has been director of Republic since 2024, is the only journalist in the history of the Rai to have directed the three main news of the state TV (Tg1, Tg2, Tg3), of which he was managing director in the season 2017-2018. First he directed The Morning and the Messenger.
