Manovra, Conference of the Unanimous Regions: “Insufficient National Health Fund”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Reunited in an extraordinary session, the Governments of Regions today share a unique position on the Law of Budget 2027-2029, asking the Government and Parliament “to direct every available financial resource in favor of the further increase of the National Health Fund”.

The Conference of Regions recognizes the importance of the overall budget which in 2027 brings the Fund to 146,3 billion euros, marking an increase of more than 3 billion and a half. “An increase that, however, fails to balance the actual health expenditure that grows at an exponential rate due to inflation, the higher costs related to contractual renewals and the growth of energy ones”, reads in a note.

“No one intends to disregard reality: health funds have increased in these years of Meloni government. The problem, if anything, is that spending runs more than financing and with this budgetary manoeuvre we risk no longer being able to guarantee the coverage of the Lea”, explains the President of the Conference, Maximilian Fedriga. “The Regions are already in trouble for the services they are providing with their own resources in 2026 and, for the future, with the effect of inflation and the impennata of costs, we face a scenario in debt. This is why we ask for a corrective during the parliamentary procedure of the budgetary law: it is necessary that every resource be available on this chapter. Health is an inviolable right and public service deserves to be sustained unconditionally. It is not a match between State and Regions, indeed,” explains Fedriga. “We are all committed to providing health services to citizens, support for the most fragile, quality of care, prevention and territorial assistance. This is why today we will represent to President Meloni and the Government a situation of serious difficulty, expressed unanimously by the Conference”.
