Los Angeles celebrated the first edition of Italian Fashion Days in the World (Italian Fashion Days in the World – GMIM) with an event dedicated to creativity, craftsmanship and cultural value of Made in Italy. The initiative, hosted by the General Consulate of Italy and the Italian Institute of Culture of Los Angeles, has seen the protagonist Golden Goose, symbol of an Italian fashion capable of combining tradition and contemporaneity.
The appointment, which was held on 9 December 2025 at the Italian Institute of Culture, is part of a new project promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with ICE – Agency and the main associations of the fashion sector, with the aim of enhancing Italian excellence in the world and strengthening economic and cultural dialogue with strategic partners like the United States.
The heart of the evening was the conversation with Mauro Maggioni, incoming CEO Americas of Golden Goose, moderated by Dennita Sewell, Director of the Fashion Resource Center of ASU FIDM. A dialogue that explored the philosophy of the “perfectly imperfect”, a distinctive figure of the brand born in Venice and today a global reality of contemporary luxury. A vision that focuses on the authenticity, customization and human value of fashion.
In front of an audience composed of students, young professionals, designers, industry operators and representatives of the Italian business network in Los Angeles, the route of Golden Goose was covered: from independent brand deeply rooted in Italian craftsmanship to international creative platform able to tell personal stories through products.
The evening was also enriched by a Co-Creation experience, inspired by the festivals, led by the brand’s artisans – the so-called Dream Makers. The guests were able to attend the artisanal processes and participate in the customization of bandanas and the silkscreen printing of posters, bringing home a unique memory of the event.
World Fashion Days are part of Italy’s broadest Growth Diplomacy strategy, which uses areas of excellence such as fashion, design and lifestyle to support the internationalization of Italian companies. A sector that counts over 50,000 companies, generates 96 billion euros of turnover and exports more than 65 billion euros, equal to almost 10% of the national export.
The Consul General of Italy in Los Angeles, Raffaella Valentini, underlined: “Italian fashion is not only one of the most admired expressions of our creativity, but also a strategic pillar of our economy and a powerful instrument of diplomacy. Through fashion, Italy shares values such as craftsmanship, beauty, quality and innovation, combining tradition and modernity. Celebrating all this in Los Angeles, with a brand like Golden Goose, strengthens the link between our two countries”.
To echo, the words of Emanuele Amendola, Director of the Italian Institute of Culture of Los Angeles: “Our goal is to tell Italy not only through its historical heritage, but also through the vitality of contemporary creativity. Fashion is culture to all effects: a way to read the world, express identity and imagine the future. The dialogue between students, educators and professionals makes these meetings even more significant”.
Finally, Mauro Maggioni reiterated the deep sense of the Golden Goose vision: “The “perfect imperfection” comes from the Italian tradition of doing, from authenticity and human relations. This shared moment celebrates Italian fashion with awareness and respect for what it represents.”.
