ITA Airways, in 2025 revenue growth and strong long-range performance

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – 2025 closed for ITA Airways with positive overall commercial results, “despite a particularly challenging operating context, characterized by geopolitical instability, unavailable fleet and increasing competitive pressure”, we read in a note. During the year, the Company registered passenger revenues of 2.8 billion euros, up 2.7% compared to 2024, in the face of a substantially stable capacity offer. The transported passengers were 16.2 million, “with a significant improvement in the quality of the demand – the note continues – the load factor stood at 83.4%, an increase of 2.1 percentage points on an annual basis. The RASK (indicator that measures the embroidery by available place-kilometer) grew by 2.8%, confirming the effectiveness of the commercial optimization strategies adopted.” The long radius has confirmed the main driver of growth of the network. In 2025 the revenues of the intercontinental sector increased by 9.1%, with an increase of 6.1% and a load factor of 85.2%. The positive performance was supported by a solid demand, an improvement of the RASK (+2.9%) and the expansion of the network, with the opening of a new intercontinental route in November.

In the domestic sector, despite a reduction in the offer, ITA Airways has recorded a strong improvement in profitability, with an increase of 17.5% and a general increase in the filling coefficients. The Middle Ray, however, has been more affected by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East area, while maintaining a Load Factor growing compared to the previous year. Particularly positive the performance of the Business class, which has evidenced an improvement on all sectors in terms of load factor, average tariff and RASK, with important results especially on the Long Ray, where the filling coefficient reached 85.9%. At the end of 2025, the fleet consisted of 106 aircraft, of which 74 (equal to 70%) of the next generation with an average age of 6.5 years, the youngest fleet in Europe. “In the course of the year important steps have been taken in the integration process in the Lufthansa Group, with interventions on commercial processes, sales instruments and distribution models, in compliance with regulatory constraints, laying the foundations for development and synergies expected in 2026,” the company underlines. “In an extremely challenging operating environment, ITA Airways has demonstrated in 2025 solidity and hold capacity on the commercial level – said Joerg Eberhart, CEO and General Manager of ITA Airways – Revenue growth, demand quality improvement and strong long-range performance confirm the validity of our strategic choices, despite geopolitical tensions, particularly in the Middle East area, increasing fleet restrictions and competitive pressure. In this context, the results of ITA Airways are part of the integration process in the Lufthansa Group, contributing positively to the strengthening of the Group’s overall performance.” The company will also communicate the economic data as soon as the budget is approved.
