Industry, Urso “Europe now decides to relaunch competitiveness”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “It needs to act now and together, by this year, to defend our competitiveness and our industrial sovereignty. There is no more time to lose.” So the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, speaking in Berlin at the eighth edition of the “Friends of Industry” ministerial meeting to relaunch the growth of the European production system. “It is essential that Europe immediately takes decisions to protect the automotive sector, with the review of regulations for heavy and light vehicles, adopting a flexible approach and recognizing full technological freedom, the founding principle of our Union. It is now necessary to decide also regarding the energy industries, with an ambitious revision of CBAM and ETS, and in frontier technologies, accelerating on artificial intelligence and quantum. We cannot postpone further decisive choices on the resilience of industrial value chains: we have already lost too many years,” added Urso.

The Minister stressed the need for “three factors enabling a new European industrial policy: competitive energy costs, bureaucratic simplification and adequate financial resources”, essential elements, added, “to support the industrial transition and return to Europe the ability to grow and compete in the world. The Draghi report is from September last year. It has been more than a year and nothing has happened in Europe. As the world ran, we remained firm to witness our decadence. We are no longer available to accept it: We ask that Europe decides, and that it do now.”.
