ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The second quarter of 2026 confirms the Italian entrepreneurial system. Between April and June the balance between new openings and closures of enterprises is positive for 32,709 units, result of 83.169 inscriptions and 50,460 terminations (net of office cancellations).
The growth rate is up to +0,56%, the same recorded in the same period of 2025, bringing to 5,823,863 the total number of companies registered. In the course of the trimester, the artisan companies recorded 21,542 inscriptions and 16.341 terminations, with a net balance of +5.201 units and a growth rate of +0.43%, bringing the total stock to 1.226.925 enterprises.
These data emerge from Movimprese, the statistical analysis conducted by Unioncamere and InfoCamere. Overall, the second quarter confirms an entrepreneurial system that is maintained on a path of expansion in line with last year, but it does so with a growth supported mainly by services and constructions, while traditional compartments continue to slow down.
The growth of the quarter is mainly supported by services and constructions. Among the services, financial and insurance activities (+1.91% equal to 2.868 units in more) followed by professional, scientific and technical activities (+1.59% and +4.059 units) and administrative activities and support services (+1.13% and 2.577 units in more).
In absolute terms, after construction (+5.369 enterprises in the period), the accommodation and catering services (+4.851 units, +1.07%) and the real estate activities (+3.191 units, +0.96%). On the other side, manufacturing activities grow by just 0.10% (483 more companies) and agriculture, forestry and fisheries stop at +0.23% (+1.549 units). This dualism between innovative sectors/services and traditional activities finds an even more clear correspondence within the craft sector: The growth of craftsmanship is in fact almost entirely supported by constructions and other service activities (repairs, maintenance and provision of services to the person).
Almost a new craftsmanship on two is part of the building perimeter (+2.660 enterprises), while 1.473 craftsmen operate in the services to the person most requested today: from the repairs and maintenance of personal goods and for the house to the services for the welfare and those for the care of the elderly. On the opposite front, the manufacturing continues to lose ground (-289 units).
Growth involves all macro-areas of the country, but with different intensity. In absolute terms, the South and the Islands drive the ranking with an increase of 11.129 enterprises, followed by North-West (+8.121) and Center (+7.730). If you look at the quarterly growth rate, the most dynamic geographical area is the Centre (+0.64%). The analysis by legal forms confirms a consolidated trend: capital companies remain the most dynamic component of the Italian entrepreneurial fabric. With a positive balance of 19,861 units (fruit of 30,189 inscriptions and only 10,328 cessations) mark a growth rate of 1.00%.
