ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Palazzo Farnese, seat of the French Embassy in Italy, hosted the fifth edition of the Farnese d’Or Prize, a recognition promoted by the CCI France Italie – Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of France in Italy to enhance personalities, enterprises and institutions engaged in strengthening dialogue and cooperation between the two countries. The 2026 edition is part of the fifth year of implementation of the Treaty of Quirinale, signed in 2021, and has focused on themes such as innovation, industrial competitiveness, sustainability, culture, art and social impact.
The Special Jury Prize, composed by Emma Marcegaglia, Antonio Belloni, Marc Lazar and Walter Veltroni and chaired by Denis Delespaul, was attributed to Enrico Letta, president of the Jacques Delors Institute. “Particularly happy for this recognition. I am convinced that Italy and France play a fundamental role at a time when Europe wants to strengthen and integrate. Integration must move from the union of Italy and France and when Italy and France do not mean Europe fails to move forward,” said Letta.
The Farnese d’Or for the Institutions went to Invitalia and Bpifrance, for the joint call born as one of the first concrete applications of the Treaty of Quirinale and thought to support innovation and collaboration between startups and SMEs of the two countries. “For us it is an honor to be here to be rewarded for our collaboration with Bpifrance, a collaboration that emphasizes the possibility of integration through the economic development of the countries in which they operate,” said Bernardo Mattarella, CEO and General Director of Invitalia.
Among the awards also awarded for the company to Giuseppe D’Angelo, Chief Business Officer Europe of the Ferrero Group, for the role played by the group in European industrial integration and investments in France, amounting to approximately 210 million euros in the last five years. The Farnese d’Or for Innovation was awarded to Marcello Cattani, president and CEO of Sanofi Italia and Malta. “The Farnese d’Or is a special emotion for Sanofi and all its employees. Our goal is to make innovation and Italy is fundamental to us so as to ensure innovation along the spectrum of prevention. The alliance between Italy and France is even more fundamental for Europe to be stronger and stronger in research and development,” said Cattani. The prize for the Social Impact was awarded to Ninell Sobiecka, president and managing director of L’Orèal Italia, while that for Sustainability went to Gaetano Terrasini, CEO of Saint-Gobain Italy and Greece. The Farnese d’Or for Culture was given to Teresa Cremisi, editor, writer and president of Adelphi, and that for Art to director Giuseppe Tornatore. “The Farnese d’Or is a symbol of friendship and cooperation in all sectors between France and Italy. We have prestigious actors who make fundamental projects to carry out our cooperation,” said the ambassador of France in Italy, H.E. Anne-Marie Descòtes. The ceremony brought together representatives of the institutions, the entrepreneurial world, culture and innovation, consolidating the role of the award as a reference point for the French-Italian excellence.
