In New York arrives “Pinocchio Pop”, the story of Collodi to teach Italian in schools

For the first time, the Italian Institute of Culture in New York, directed by Claudio Pagliara, comes to the ground in support of an artistic project by Simona Rodano, Italian excellence in the world of theater in New York. It is a revisitation of Pinocchio, 200 years after the birth of Carlo Collodi: the show, which will be brought in the following weeks in different theaters of New York, is entitled “Pinocchio Pop”.

All the details, today at 17, on Park Avenue, in a press conference that will see the participation of Simona Rodano and on the video conference of Roby Facchinetti dei Pooh.

Pinocchio Pop is an original revisitation of the famous story of Carlo Collodi, designed specifically for the school audience K-12, but able to involve all those who love the Italian language and want to approach it through art, music and theater. The show was born with a strong educational aim: to use the universal language of live show to make Italian learning an emotional, participatory and memorable experience.

The choice to use the songs of the Pooh comes from a personal artistic path of Simona Rodano lasted over ten years, spent on national and international tours with Pinocchio – The Great Musical, experience that deeply marked the life and my artistic career. Starting from this musical heritage, the book has been completely rewritten, designed and adapted thinking of young Americans studying, or wishing to study, the Italian language. The project is based on twenty years of direct experience in schools, which began with small interventions in classes and gradually grew to involve more than 4,000 students in local theatres today.

However, the potential for expansion remains much broader, witnessing an increasing interest in artistic education programs dedicated to the Italian language. Incanto Productions is currently the only company in the United States that produces theatrical and musical content in the Italian language specifically designed for schools, bringing itinerant shows both in theatres and directly in American school establishments.
