In June exports increased: +1.6% on a monthly basis, +9.8% on an annual basis

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In June 2026 there is an estimated increase in exports (+1.6%) compared to imports (+1.2%). The monthly increase of export “is a synthesis of an increase in sales to the EU area (+6.7%) and a reduction of those towards the extra EU area (-3.6%)”. In the second quarter of 2026, compared to the previous, “export grows by 2.2%, import by 5.4%”. Istat detects it.

In June 2026 export grew on an annual basis of 9.8% in value and 5.1% in volume. The trend of exports in monetary terms is more sustained for EU markets (+15.1%) than extra EU markets (+4.1%). The import recorded a trend growth of 13.2% in value, more intense for the extra EU area (+18.7%) than that EU (+9.1%); in volume, imports increase by 2.8%.

Excluding furniture (-2.2%), export tendential growth concerns all sectors; those most contributing to growth are basic metals and metal products, excluding machines and plants (+25.8%), coke and refined petroleum products (+45.1%), means of transport, excluding motor vehicles (+13.3%) and vehicles (+17.0%).

On an annual basis, Istat continues, Germany (+22.9%) is the country that provides the most positive contribution to the national export; they follow France (+6.8%), the Netherlands (+22.4%), Switzerland (+10.5%) and Spain (+9.4%). The biggest negative contribution, however, comes from lower exports to the UK (-8.5%). In the first half of 2026, exports recorded a trend growth of 4.5%, explained above all by the increased sales of base metals and metal products, excluding machines and plants (+28.9%), coke and refined petroleum products (+23.3%) and motor vehicles (+8.3%).
