Immigration, Foti “Accuse against Meloni government fruit of malafede or ignorance”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The accusations of the left on immigration management are either the fruit of malafede or ignorance. In any case, inverting the order, the result does not change: it is fanciful accusations to attack the Meloni government”. So in a note the Minister for European Affairs, Tommaso Foti.

“Before talking about ‘boomerang’ and alleged failures, it would be useful to know at least the difference between the Schengen Treaty and the Migration and Asylum Pact: they are two completely different issues and nothing has to do with each other. Confondering them to build a political accusation shows how fragile the narrative of those who today claim to impart lessons to the Meloni government,” he points out. “To do so are those who, after having filled Italy for years of clandestines, have also the tough face of presenting themselves as experts in the management of migration flows. The reality is that the Meloni Government has changed its approach: the priority remains the contrast to illegal immigration, through the strengthening of European external borders, cooperation with countries of origin and transit, the contrast to traffickers and a policy of more effective repatriations,” explains Foti.

“No ‘boomerang’, therefore, but yet another attempt by the opposition to replace reality with propaganda. But the facts, sooner or later, always present the account”, he concludes.
