House of Made in Italy presents “Tomato Experience” at the Columbus Citizens Foundation

Made in Italy, an experience dedicated to one of the most recognizable symbols of Italian cuisine, created in collaboration with Ciao Pomodoro and led by Giorgia Caporuscio.

The meeting, begun at 4 pm, accompanied the public on a path that departed from the origins of the tomato to reach its different varieties and applications in the kitchen. Not a simple tasting, but a story about the production chain, agricultural work and the idea of quality that accompanies one of the most exported and imitated products of Made in Italy.

To lead the class was Giorgia Caporuscio, owner of Don Antonio, who has woven personal and professional experience talking about the long relationship with the company.

«I am pleased to share my experience because I know Hi practically since I was eight years old and I collaborate professionally with them since I was 19. We’ve been working together for seventeen years. It is a company that controls the product from the moment it is harvested until the final production. There is real attention in maintaining an ecosystem and a culture of tomato, trying to preserve a processing as natural as possible,” said Caporuscio.

The chef then underlined the importance of rapidity in product processing and attention to the sustainability of the entire supply chain: «The tomato is processed within six hours of harvesting, in a very natural way. There is also a certification system that follows the entire supply chain, even in the recycling of containers used for preserves. This allows us professionals to have a constant product over time, but above all natural”.

The event is part of the House of Made in Italy program dedicated to the promotion of Italian excellence in the United States, through events that combine gastronomy and tradition.
