EVIAN (FRANCIA) (ITALPRESS) – In the margin of the work of the G7 of Evian, the President of the Council, Giorgia Meloni, had an interview with the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney.
“The meeting – explains Palazzo Chigi in a note – allowed us to review the state of implementation of the action plan for strengthened cooperation Italy-Canada, agreeing on the opportunity to consolidate it further. In this context, the two Leaders agreed to continue working for the adoption of a framework agreement between Rome and Ottawa on strategic issues such as defence, infrastructure, energy, critical minerals, space. On the issue of critical minerals, President Meloni particularly thanked Prime Minister Carney for the decision of Canada to give Italy priority access to its stocks, ensuring the safety of supply chains.”.
“The interview also deepened the main dossiers of the international agenda, reaffirming the common commitment to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine and the common support for stability in the Middle East and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, in line with international law,” concludes the Presidency of the Council.
