MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Fincantieri and TUI Cruises, joint venture between TUI AG and Royal Caribbean Cruises, have celebrated at the yard of Monfalcone the delivery of “Mein Schiff Flow”, second of two ships from cruise of the class InTUItion of new conception dual-fuel (Gas Natural Liquefied – LNG and Marine Gas Oil – MGO). At the ceremony of delivery the Prefect of Gorizia, Ester Fedullo, the Mayor of Monfalcone, Luca Fasan, the civil and military authorities of the territory, Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, Biagio Mazzotta, President of Fincantieri, Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and General Director Fincantieri, Luigi Matarazzo, Director General of the Marine Division of Fincanratieri With a gross tonnage of about 160,000 tons, and a capacity of about 4,000 passengers, “Mein Schiff Flow” is based on a new generation project developed by Fincantieri to combine innovation and sustainability, which focuses on energy efficiency with the goal of reducing operating consumption and minimizing environmental impact, in full compliance with the most recent regulatory standards. Designed to use the LNG drive, “Mein Schiff Flow” is also designed to use alternative low-emission fuels such as bio-LNG or e-LNG.
The ship will be equipped with catalytic converters (conform to the Euro 6 standard) and a steam turbine that exploits the residual heat of the diesel generators, as well as an electrical connection system to the dock. All this will ensure a virtually free operation during the stopover (about 40% of operating time). On board there is also an innovative and efficient waste treatment system capable of transforming organic substances into recyclable components through a thermal process. “With the delivery of Mein Schiff Flow we celebrate a new milestone in collaboration with TUI Cruises and confirm the strategic role of the Monfalcone yard as the center of excellence of the world shipbuilding industry – said Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and General Manager of Fincantieri. “This innovation, sustainability and industrial skills are transformed every day into productive capacity and international competitiveness. The delivery of “Mein Schiff Flow” confirms a partnership between Fincantieri and TUI Cruises founded on mutual trust and a solid industrial collaboration.
In this context the contract signed last September for the construction of two new units of the InTUItion class, twins of “Mein Schiff Relax” and “Mein Schiff Flow”, which will be delivered respectively in 2031 and 2032. The ships will be realized according to the most advanced environmental standards, further strengthening the relationship with TUI Cruises and Royal Caribbean and confirming the ability of Fincantieri to support the growth of the main crocieristici operators world. The delivery consolidates, moreover, the centrality of Monfalcone in the construction of last generation cruise ships and the main establishment of the Group. In the yard have been realized over 45 ships from cruise and operate every day about 6,500 people. The construction site is a reference industrial and employment engine for the territory and a central asset for innovation and development of shipbuilding.
