EU competitiveness, from Meloni, Merz and De Wever letter with 3 proposals to the President of the European Council Costa

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The President of the Council, Giorgia Meloni, today sent, together with the German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever, a letter to the President of the European Council Antonio Costa, in view of the European Council of 15 and 16 October. The initiative follows the meeting of the informal group of “Friends of Competitiveness” last week.

As you learn from sources of Palazzo Chigi, the letter invites you to deepen three roads: “1) a preferential lane to accelerate investments in priority sectors, starting from energy and digitisation; 2) a brake on new bureaucratic charges; 3) a general reduction of the obligations of ‘reporting’ EU, especially for SMEs”. Particular emphasis is placed on the link between simplification, high energy and industrial competitiveness.
