ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “With regard to the announced question by Mr Bonelli on NATO Steadfast Noon, they are, as always, absolutely available to report to Parliament and to provide all necessary clarifications. NATO Steadfast Noon is an annual training exercise, scheduled for a long time, that takes place in the countries of the Atlantic Alliance and that Italy has already hosted six times: in 2010 with the Berlusconi Government, in 2013 with the Letta Government, in 2014 with the Renzi Government, in 2018 with the Conte I Government, in 2021 with the Draghi Government and in 2023 with the Meloni Government. We are therefore talking about a consolidated routine activity, carried out over the years under governments of different political orientation, which falls into normal NATO programming and is not linked to the international crises of the moment. It is also important to clarify that the exercise does not provide for the use of real armament. The activities are aimed at verifying procedures, coordination and safety standards between allied forces. I am ready to answer every question in Parliament and to provide all necessary clarifications. When we talk about national security and Italy’s commitments in NATO, we need seriousness, transparency and respect for facts, not instrumental polemics.” So the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto in a note.
