ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “We believe that continuing to bet on military victory is a madness, today it is essential to be protagonists of a negotiating turn.” This was stated by the president of the 5 Star Movement, Giuseppe Conte, speaking in Brussels on the margin of the second edition of ‘Parlami d’Europa’. The pentastellate leader has highlighted the differences with the other forces of the centre-left on foreign policy, underlining that “there is a diversity with the Democratic Party in particular” on the management of the conflict in Ukraine, but reiterated that “they are themes that we will clarify within the progressive field because we believe it is fundamental”.
Conte explained that the Movement is at work in Brussels to reverse the course on youth and economic policies, starting from listening to new generations to counter the escape of brains abroad. “Today in Italy there is no favourable environment for young people, we put it at the centre of the agenda for an alternative government,” said the former prime minister, announcing that a package of concrete measures will be completed during the summer. The project, defined through the criteria of participatory democracy, aims at a long-term perspective to ensure the stability of an alternative coalition: “We want a solid and concrete programme to last five years. It’s an easy bet for the centreleft, that’s why we want to change language.”.
On the front of internal policy, the leader of the M5S has launched a hard attack both to the majority of the centre-right – defined divided and litigious – and to the President of the Council, Giorgia Meloni. Reacting the Prime Minister’s statements to Confcommercio, Conte ironized: “He said it was like it was the first day, as if he had just begun. That’s right, we didn’t notice four years of government, zero proposals.” The President pentastellato then recalled that “the legislature is expiring” and that at the next elections “probably will no longer be she at Palazzo Chigi. He can say ‘we will do’ from the opposition to the next government, which we hope will be us.”.
The programmatic coordination of the progressive field will also focus on the economic issues of the country, with a focus on banking and stagnation. Count concluded by stressing the urgency of redistribution of financial resources: “The banks continue to accumulate profits while the country is close to zero in growth. This is a problem we have to solve. To us very much hopes that there is a favorable credit, today we have the urgency to recover resources”.
