ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The competent judicial authority – the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Milan – has conducted the investigations, requested by the Presidency of the Republic and requested by the Ministry of Justice, on the unfounded assertion of the conditions that led to the granting of grace to Mrs. Minetti. The Attorney General, on alleged facts depicted in press news, has placed accurate checks in every direction necessary, through the Italian police bodies and Interpol, reaching the conclusion that they do not correspond to the true. The President of the Republic, who had publicly asked the Ministry of Justice – who thanked for having solicitly provided you – to make new investigations, took note with respect to the conclusions of the General Prosecutor of Milan, on the basis of which there are no grounds for a reassessssment of the measure adopted, reaffirming its trust in the Magistrature”. This is what we read in a note of the Quirinale, which “remembers – for correct and authentic information – that, for over eleven years, when a question of grace is accompanied by the favourable opinion of the competent judicial bodies, the President of the Republic usually grants grace, without being influenced by foreign considerations to the humanitarian purposes of grace”.
“For appropriate information,” the Colle adds that, “for the decree of grace in question, the Quirinale did not differ from habitual behaviors, without any unusual secrecy: in most cases of granting grace it is not communicated by the Quirinale, because of the presence of sensitive data – diseases, events and family relations, involvement of children and other delicate aspects – which must be protected from forms of disclosure.” In addition, “to offer a precise evaluation element, 42 thanks have been granted in the current presidential mandate for more than four years: for 12 of them there has been a statement that made them known, while there has been no communication for 30 cases because these involved sensitive data.” The Presidency of the Republic “respects the prohibition of their dissemination”.
