Banca Generali, Mossa “We value the Pmi, are the backbone of the country”

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – “We want to value the backbone of the country, that fabric of companies of excellence that have chosen the way of quotation to give itself discipline, governance and an international visibility that today the market can not always reflect correctly”. In an interview with the Sun 24 Ore Gian Maria Mossa, CEO of Banca Generali. “We are the third private bank of the country with more than 87 billion euros attributable to private households – explains Mossa – and we are increasingly in dialogue with entrepreneurs on investment and protection issues, but also succession, governance, development areas such as extraordinary operations and the opportunity of the capital market.”.

On this point it serves according to the manager “an effort forward to relaunch its liquidity, first for the quoted Pmi”. For the ad of Banca Generali “entrepreneurs often see the Stock Exchange as a complex and little liquid route and then end up preferring the alternative of private equity, which today has huge resources and offers multiples often higher than the public market. Those who are already listed tell us a different story: the approach on public markets has not only represented the possibility of having access to the capital, but has created discipline within companies and has also provided them an extraordinary showcase for international customers and facilitated the attraction of talent. These aspects must be valued and our role is to make sure that the entrepreneur is not forced to make a compulsory choice, but has the opportunity to choose the right channel for their needs”

“We have to create the conditions because the listing returns to be a natural choice for companies that want to grow and compete internationally,” he continues. “In Italy, the companies listed with capitalization less than billion euros are worth less than 40 billion on a total of 2,600 billion value of national enterprises. In France and Germany the share of wealth of unquoted companies is about one third of the total, while from us stands at 57% – Mossa emphasizes -: if we want to reverse the route it needs a “Chinese drop”, that is, to guarantee a continuous flow of investments towards companies. Banca Generali is working on a state-of-the-art investment solution, in the phase of approval, that allows to convey capital on these excellences in a simple way, providing precisely that daily liquidity that remains the true bottleneck of the system to be overcome today”.

“The idea is to create an ad-hoc index together with our investment banking boutique Intermonte that brings together the 100 companies listed in Piazza Affari with capitalization below the billion and a series of objective characteristics necessary for a sustainable quotation path such as the float – adds –. Unlike the main index, dominated by financial and energy, this selection represents the true heart of Italy: industry, health, technology and consumption. The next step is the launch of a dedicated investment tool that ensures an increase in liquidity and not only: we want to create “campions” that serve as an example to push other companies to improve their transparency to attract capital”.
