MILANO (ITALPRESS) – In view of the World Day of Occupational Therapy, the Commission of Albo Occupational Therapists of the Order TSRM and PSTRP of Milan, Como, Lecco, Lodi, Monza Brianza and Sondrio, in collaboration with AITO – Italian Association of Occupational Therapy, announces the conference “From the map of needs to the territory of daily life”, which will be held on October 24th at the P.v.
The initiative will be an opportunity to discuss and deepen the rehabilitative needs of citizens and the answers that the healthcare system and professionals can offer to guarantee effective, personalized and quality-oriented care paths. The conference is part of the international theme ‘Participation Matters’, promoted by the World Federation of Employment Therapists (WFOT) for the World Day of Employment Therapy.
Michela Bentivegna, President of the Commission of Albo, states: “With this initiative we want to value all the potential of our profession, especially in a phase characterized by the reorganization of services and the scarcity of resources. The skills of the Occupational Therapist can be made available to the person at different times of life: from the management of fragility to the domicile to support in the reintegration of work, to the promotion of sports practice as an opportunity for inclusion. We will talk about this and much more during the conference.”.
Adds the President of the Order and National Federation of Orders TSRM and PSTRP, Diego Catania: “The skills of the Employment Therapist take on more and more importance in a demographic landscape characterized by seniority and chronicity. The theme of participation, rightly underlined by the World Federation, reminds us that no one must be left behind and that every person has the right to find his independence in the different contexts of life: the need to give value to the professions that help to build paths of integration and autonomy for the most fragile”.
On the importance of collaboration between professionals, institutions and scientific associations, Gabriella Casu, President of AITO: “It is essential to cultivate opportunities for comparison and collaboration between the orderly institution and scientific associations. Only through a constant dialogue it is possible to grow professional culture, share knowledge and perspectives and promote increasingly appropriate intervention models, with positive effects on the health of citizens. The effort of the scientific association is to make more and more evident how the inclusion of the competences of the occupational therapist in the treatment paths can favor appropriate rehabilitative responses and cost-effective, capable of generating health for the citizen and value for our health system”.
At the centre of the meeting will be the role of the Employment Therapy in promoting autonomy, the importance of a person-centered grip and the need to develop appropriate and accessible rehabilitation responses, capable of responding to the emerging needs of the population. In this perspective, moving from the map of needs to the territory of everyday life means promoting rehabilitation measures capable of affecting the entire life of the person, supporting it in daily activities, in the world of work and in leisure time.
The conference will therefore be a significant moment to promote knowledge of the profession, to foster dialogue between professionals and institutions and to reaffirm the value of a rehabilitation that focuses the person, his possibilities, his aspirations and his right to actively participate in the community.
