ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Over two million more bookings in the first nine months of 2026 compared to the same period of 2025 and an improvement of the respect for maximum waiting times for specialist visits and diagnostic examinations. It confirms the positive trend already highlighted in the first half of the year, with significant progress for urgent and short performances. This is what emerges from the periodic bulletin on the trend of waiting lists, prepared by Agenas.
In the first nine months the total bookings were from 19.7 million in 2025 to 21.8 million, with an increase of more than 10%. Both the first specialist visits increase, from 11.3 to 12.3 million (+8.3%), and diagnostic examinations, from 8.4 to 9,5 million (+13.3%). The increase in bookings corresponds to an improvement in the respect of guarantee times: for the first visits the percentage passes from 76.9% to 78.6%, while for diagnostic examinations it grows from 83.3% to 85%.
In absolute terms, the first visits booked within the expected time span from 8.7 to 9,6 million, with approximately 935 thousand additional benefits. Diagnostic examinations increase from 7 to 8.1 million, equal to approximately 1.1 million additional checks in warranty times. Overall, there are more than 2 million more bookings within the expected timeframe. A further positive signal concerns bookings beyond the maximum guarantee time, which decrease both in absolute and percentage terms. For the first visits they pass from 2,14 to 2,11 million, with an impact on the total that drops from 18.9% to 17.2%.
Diagnostic examinations reduce from 1,089 to 1,084 million, from 12.9% to 11.4%. Monthly analysis also confirms that, even in the presence of physiological fluctuations related to seasonality, in each of the first nine months of 2026 the percentages of respect of the times are higher than those recorded in the corresponding months of 2025, both for the first visits and for diagnostic examinations.
